Quiet Weekend

We had a relatively quiet weekend.  Terry’s on a new medicine, Drew and Cassie are… well, teenagers, what else can you say.

Overall we had a relatively nice and quite weekend.  Terry did learn how to order movies on FIOS, so pass codes are now needed, although we thought that had already been enabled.  At least he picked a movie that we wanted to see anyhow.

Everyone is asleep – preparing for this last week of school.  Summer vacation, for the kids, starts on Friday.  Thankfully, Terry’s going to summer school again this year.  So all are home till July, then he’s off in the mornings to school. We’re hoping this will keep him in the “groove” so there’s little backsliding when the new year starts.

It’s scary – Terry’s going into the 4th grade and Drew and Cassie are both starting high school (and different ones at that – with their specialty centers).  I better enjoy the summer, because come fall things are going to really start hopping around here.

Hair Cuts

Cassie and I got our hair cut this week.  Mine’s just above the shoulders, but nothing too different. Cassie, however, was far more daring than I and took hers from just below her shoulders to a pixie cut (about 2 inches long). Then we colored her hair…soft black.

Spring Break

Last week the kids had off for Spring Break.

Andrew enjoyed an extended weekend visit at his fathers house and then was a big help watching his little brother at the end of the week so his sister could have a little bit of a break.

Troy spent the first part of the week at the beach and finished off the week at home getting us all inspired to do some yard work and wash the cars.

Cassie went to birthday party downtown for a canal cruise and lunch at Bottoms Up Pizza. She helped out with Terry at the beginning of the week and then disappeared to her room to read for a large part of the end of the week.

As for myself I worked remotely all week. Still did my 9 to 5:30 but it was great being able to get up at 8:55 and be logged into work at 9. Today was hard having to get up at 7:15am and get Terry out to school and me off to the office.

We had a fun time at Ma-maws and Pa-paws for Easter. The kids hunted eggs and ate chocolate.

Terry had to put a spin of the very nice week by taking a tumble down the stairs on Sunday. He managed to give himself a good sized knot right between his eyes… I told him he should have done it a week earlier at least then when he headed to school this morning it would have been nearly / if not completely gone instead of just having happened. But then, that seams to be the way Terry rolls, at least he’s doing alright today – he had a bit of headache yesterday.

A day at Kings Dominion

Yesterday we spent the day at Kings Dominion.  Troy, Drew and Cassie got a chance to ride the roller coasters and Terry and I chilled out and watched the shows and took a stroll people watching and enjoying the weather.

Rough Week

It’s been a rough week.  Between the Orthodontist, the school play and Terry’s behaviors with his medication changes it’s kept us hopping.

Andrew’s down to his last year in braces – hooray!  I think we’re looking at the end of 2011 beginning 2012 for them to come off.  I think everyone will be happy when that day finally arrives.  But, oh his teeth look SO much better.

Cassie made the play.  She’s the nanny and has 6 or 7 lines and is in 3 scenes.  I believe she told me she should be on stage 3-5 minutes, between her lines, and walk on pieces. I’m excited – it’s so much better than her 1 1/2 lines (she shared one) and 30 second appearance she had last year.   Now, the fun part – arranging transportation home from all the rehearsals.

Terry, well here’s where most of the excitement for the week has been.  His meds were changed on Monday.  Tuesday he slept through school for the most part, Wednesday I had to pick him up at the end of the day (hit the bus driver), Thursday daddy got him at 10 am (hitting), and Friday I got him at the end of the day (hit the bus driver & bus aid).  Needless to say, doctor was called & he’s currently off all behavioral meds till I can get him back in the doctors and start again.

Today we have Buddy Break and then hopefully we can have a restful remainder of the long weekend.

Winter Green

I was at Winter Green yesterday for a field trip. It was lots of fun. It’s pretty easy to ski for the most part.

New Site

Today a new version of ThePetteyFamily.com was launched.  Apparently, our old site was attacked by spam comments and I received notification from my hosting provider that my sites were in violation of my hosting agreement… too much traffic.

After checking the stats for all my sites I found that an insane amount of hits / activity was occurring on this site – after all it’s just a family site & we’re not that active in posting.  I found nearly 200,000 comments had been made on my 10 – 15 post site.  It ended up just being easier to kill the whole thing and start over.  I’ve not had a WordPress site before (my other are HTML or Joomla) so I thought I’d give that  a try. So, far it’s been very easy – great back end user interface and intuitive.  Anyhow, hopefully this will rectify the issue with my hosting provider, because I’m not upgrading to a $135/mo dedicated server. I’ve never come close to by bandwidth limits before & without commenting enabled I shouldn’t again.

Well, the theme may do some changing as I play around with different ones and work on modifying them myself, but sorry I will not be enabling commenting again, so if you need to get in touch with one of us, go to the About page – links to our individual emails are there.

A Part in the Play

Cassie got a part in the school Spring play.  She’s very excited.  She tried out for the part of the nanny and that’s what she got!  This year she’s got more than 2 lines and 20 seconds on the stage too, so we’re all happy we’ll get to see more of her on the stage.  When we get more info about when it is, we’ll let you know.
